Ask Gary Freels, Bilco Brick’s sales and marketing manager, what’s the single most popular request from his clients, and he emphatically responds, “more colors – they’re always looking for variety and new options to offer their home buyers.” Keeping up with new styles and trends is a big part of Freels’ job. “Based on architectural and building design trends, we introduce new color blends each year,” he said. “Adding a new color takes anywhere from six weeks to six months depending on the process, manufacturing guidelines and approvals. It is one of the more fun aspects of my job.”

Recently, Bilco introduced three new brick blends to its variety of colors and finishes. The first, Ashbrook, is a two-color blend incorporating gray and khaki earth tones. Sahara, another earth-tone blend combines khaki and brown. Richmond, a darker blend, combines cinnamon, khaki and black. Freels said all three blends complement stone and stucco design features exceptionally well.

“Offering builders an assortment of sought-after colors and blends is our niche in this business,” said Freels. “Unlike other brick manufacturing processes that are more limited in their abilities to alter color, our process allows us the freedom and flexibility to come up with colors to satisfy almost any taste.”
